NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Wednesday the plea filed by All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora, who has challenged a notice issued by a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) directing her to furnish a bond of ₹10,000 and maintain peace.
The court has also agreed to take up pleas filed by Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who have challenged the Special Executive Magistrate’s order remanding them to judicial custody.
The activists sought an urgent hearing before the High Court, which agreed to consider their petitions on the same day. The urgency stems from the fact that their judicial custody period is scheduled to end on Wednesday.Neha Bora’s petition challenges the SEM’s notice requiring her to execute a ₹10,000 bond as a condition related to maintaining peace. She has approached the High Court seeking relief against the notice.
The petitions filed by Das and Ranka, meanwhile, seek to challenge the order directing their judicial custody. Their counsel pressed for an immediate hearing in view of the scheduled end of their custody period.
Justice Subramonium Prasad of the Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear the matters on Wednesday.
