Saurabh Rajput Was Murdered on March 3, 2025
The case relates to the murder of Saurabh Rajput on March 3, 2025. According to the prosecution, his body was cut into five pieces after the murder and placed inside a blue drum. The incident drew widespread attention in the region. The trial began in the district court in July 2025. During the proceedings, both the prosecution and the defence presented their arguments before the court.
Prosecution Sought the Death Penalty
Earlier the Public prosecutor K.K. Chaubey had urged the court to award the death penalty to Muskan and Sahil. Defence lawyer Rekha Jain, however, argued for a lesser punishment. Citing Muskan’s two daughter and her elderly parents, she requested the court to take these circumstances into consideration while determining the sentence.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court sentenced Muskan and Sahil to death. The verdict marks a significant development in the case at the trial court level. The convicts may challenge the sentence through the applicable appellate legal process.
